About Me

I've been making things for as long as I can remember. It started with drawing and coloring paper mermaid dolls, then studying interdisciplinary visual art in college, and eventually — after about fifteen years focused on family and career — finding my way back to art-making with a lot more enthusiasm than I started with. These days I split my time between two loves: beaded botanical suncatchers that catch the light in ceramic and terracotta pots, and pressed-flower pieces made from blooms grown in my Pacific Northwest garden (or gathered on visits home), pressed, and set into little compositions with acid-free archival glue.  However, the ideas won't stop coming, so I'm sure there will be new creations!

I opened my Etsy shop under the name Goldfinch Works back in 2011, and it's grown from jewelry-making into what it is today: sparkly, botanical, a little whimsical. I decided to change my shop's name to Finch & Petal to more accurately encapsulate the botanical themes and mediums I'm working with.

No two suncatchers end up exactly alike — the beadwork shifts a little every time, which I think is part of the charm. Alongside the suncatchers, I make both large pressed flower wall art and small pressed-flower ACEO art cards, a cozy, collectible way to bring a little garden indoors.

Life is short, so why deny yourself something that you find beautiful? That's more or less the whole philosophy behind this shop: pretty things, made by hand, meant to be lived with and loved.

Thanks for stopping by — I'd love for you to look around, and I'm always happy to talk custom pieces if something catches your eye but isn't quite right as-is.
